Brief History of IPMS
Let me give you a concise summary of the International Plastic Modellers’ Society (IPMS):

Now IPMS/LVSM
On my first visit to IPMS/LVSM (International Plastic Modelers’ Society/USA) in Lehigh Valley on 17APR24, I witness a small group that congregates every other Wednesday to talk about their passion. Their passion for building things plastic and otherwise. I’m talking about scale model kit building.
They welcomed me with a very warm welcome which extended to my son who accompanied me. There we talked about all things plastic modeling. Topics ranged from brand names, quality in details from certain kits, and what type of glue used and for what purpose.
What really struck me was the warmth, their hospitality, they extended to two new strangers. They even spoke directly to my 11-year-old son. This group is located in the Lehigh Valley in Pennsylvania.
We brought in to show them my builds of USS Independence LCS-2, model by Trumpeter and Bandai’s Millennium Falcon, and my son didn’t bring anything since it was his first time. Both kits are 1:350 scale. But the group asked him about his interests, and he stated both scale modelling and Legos. So, they encouraged him to come back next time with one of his Lego builds.

They have a Facebook page and if you live in the Valley and like scale models and dioramas, join! Lehigh Valley chapter of IPMS is what they are.
They meet every other Wednesday at the Catasauqua Municipal Building, 90 Bridge St, Catasauqua PA, 18032. Meetings are, of course, entirely optional and people are welcome to come and go as their schedule permits. Meetings run from 6:30 to 8 – 8:30.
So come join to show a build or work in progress, as they talk about techniques and such. Therefore, it’s a great group and a lot of fun.
Unfortunately, their FB page is private and any builds you want to see, can’t be seen unless you ask to join the FB page. Only members can see who’s in the group and what they post. So, I suggest you do at Lehigh Valley Scale Modelers | Facebook.
My son and I returned the following meeting in two weeks, and we got the same enthusiasm from meeting the group’s lead and the rest of the group. Moreover, my son was happy to show his Lego build, which was a TIE Fighter.
